The best painting ideas I have experienced

Painting is an exciting career if the artist does it with passion and hard work. The quality of painting depends on a number of factors among them being the quality of painting materials used. However, it is also important for the artist to take time and think about the painting ideas before starting the painting journey. The following are some of the painting ideas that have proved to be successful.

Creativity: this is the most important aspect of any exceptional painting. Being creative will make your painting unique and stand out from the rest. It is creativity that will make your painting very attractive and appealing to the viewers. The success of any painting largely depends on the creativity of the artist.
Relevance: a relevant painting is as important as anything else. It is recommended to be careful when selecting the theme on which to paint about. People prefer buying paints depending on season, occasion among other factors. For instance, if it is Christmas season, then consider making paints that have Christmas related messages; same to other messages. People do things depending on seasons, especially celebrations, thus know the occasion at hand before you start painting.

Comfort: there is nothing as good as working on something that you are comfortable with. Artistic painting is an art that requires the artist’s passion and commitment. For instance, the painting you are working on should be self-driven and not something that you are forced to do. That is why it is important to choose the theme to work on by yourself.

Budget: to avoid obstacles during the painting process, it is important to make an approximation on the amount of money you are likely to spend. Painting does not involve a lot of things and the major items you will require include paints, brushes, cardboards, among others. The quality of materials also matters but you should not go by the notion that all good quality materials are expensive. There are cheap but good painting materials that are available in the market. Do your calculations right and you will eliminate hitches once you start painting. Work within your budget to avoid stress.

Common mistakes made when painting

Painting is becoming interesting every day and many people are getting involved into it. However, there are also quite a number of mistakes that can be easily made by artists while painting. Hence as you see the incredible paintings, know that there are a number of mistakes that the artists avoided or corrected. The following are some of the commonly made mistakes by artists when painting.

Not having sufficient painting materials: proper preparation before starting to paint is very important. If you happen to start painting and realize that you do not have enough or all the needed materials in the middle of your painting, then it is likely that you will not achieve what you had aimed at. Stopping in the middle of painting to go and look for other materials is a big inconveniencing factor and will ruin your work. Before you start painting, make a checklist of all the materials you will require and ensure that you have all of them or else you will not achieve your objectives.

Assuming the manufacturer’s instructions: each paint has its own instructions from the manufacturer on how and where to use the paints. There are paints that can only be used within a certain range of temperature. If you happen to use the paints inappropriately, then do not expect to find a high quality paint work. It is wrong to assume that all paints have the same instructions; just like many artists do.

Using cheap brushes: many artists make this mistake unknowingly. Cheap brushes will show brush marks which do not look good. Therefore to get the finest paint work, use a high quality paint brush and maintain it well. Wash the brush after every painting activity and store it appropriately.

Do not choose a color that will irritate you. As an artist, you must love the work you are doing and therefore it will be easier for you to work perfectly with the colors that will make you love your final artwork.
Using too many colors on a single paint work: too many colors can become irritating on a single piece of painting. It is recommended not to use more than four different colors of paints.

Seeking opinions from other people in the middle of painting: it is recommended to paint alone once you start painting. It is wrong to make changes in the middle of painting thus consider it an individual affair once you kick off.

Using excess paint in an attempt to avoid wasting already purchased paint. This is the greatest way to waste your whole painting. Once you feel that your painting is complete, stop painting regardless of the paint that will be remaining. It is better to dispose excess paint rather than adding it on your painting. That is why it is important to do accurate calculation on the quantity of paint you will require before you start painting.
There are many other mistakes that can be made while painting; you will identify others as you continue progressing. The best thing is to avoid making the same mistakes the next time you paint.

How I found my kid have painting talent

Painting is an art which is used to express personal ideas and creativity. The best artistic painters do not force their painting skills but majority of them are born with the talent of painting. Just as many great artistic painters have narrated their stories on how they started their painting career, my kid, James, was not exempted. He started showing his painting skills at a very tender age that even got me amazed. I am not an artistic painter myself but I was able to notice that my kid had the painting skills. Obviously he did not inherit his painting talent from me, his father.

I was a primary school teacher and when my son was three years old, his talent in painting was visible in the eyes of everybody who was near him. First, he loved nature and whenever he spotted any spectacular scene, he would try to draw it in the dust. This caught me by surprise because nobody in my family was an artistic painter. My wife was a nurse and did not have time to either identify or nurture my child’s talent.

When James attained the age of six years, he was enrolled in kindergarten school in our neighborhood. This was the greatest opener for his talent; he now had books and pens to draw all he wanted. I would purchase books on weekly basis because he would draw and paint pictures every time he had free time. His teacher also identified his passion in art and did not restrict him from doing what he loved most – painting.

At the age of eight years when James was in standard two, I was surprised on my birthday. Two weeks earlier, they had had a class tour to a game park. On that evening of my birthday, we had supper as a family, as usual. After the dinner, at around 9:00 p.m. James went to his bedroom and came back with a picture in his hands which he extended to me and said, “Dad, here is your birthday present”. I was astonished and could not believe what I saw. He had artistically drawn and painted a picture of a monkey standing on a tree, peeling a ripe banana! What a scene, what a picture! It was a spectacular picture that nobody could have imagined that it had been drawn and painted by a standard two kid. Everybody in the family was mesmerized and happy with James’ painting.

That very month, they had the school’s culture week and James painted the same picture which he showcased on the D-day of the event. His painting became the most outstanding in the arts section beating all paintings that had been done by the other students. Believe it or not, his painting was purchased at a price of $150. It was from that very day that I purchased a full set of painting materials for my kid. He became famous as an artistic painter in the whole school and region and after his high school; he joined college and studied artistic painting. He was able to pay his college fees through his artistic paintings talent because he had signed several artistic painting studios that paid for his services.

My kid made me understand that talent is always in-born and nobody can hide it. At a tender age of eight years, James surprised me with a remarkable painting that made me realize that in deed he had a painting talent. From that day, I supported him fully in nurturing his talent which has enabled his earn a living until today. Currently, he has his own artistic painting studio where he is also nurturing painting talents for many young people.

The various categories of artistic paints

Painting is one of the funniest activities especially if you know what you are doing and how to do it. Basically, there are lots of new artistic paints and each paint has its own technique of painting. This means that before you start any paint work, you must select the type of paints that you are going to use. Remember that painting is not just about taking the paint brush and dipping it in any paint, but instead you have to understand which type of paint you are using.

The following are the commonly used categories of artistic paints:

Watercolors: these are the colors that are known to change their form as they dry thus they may be tricky to use. These are the best paint colors especially for start-ups or children because they can be easily washed off hands or clothes using water. In case you want to start exploring in the paining niche, then there are the best colors to start with because they are very easy to use. Watercolors are thin and transparent and they can be painted on paper.

Oils: they are easy to control as they take days to dry up and therefore you will have sufficient time to get the exact paint work you want. The paints can be mixed with other colors to form different textures and forms. When using oils, you can make changes to your work without affecting the base layers. The shortcomings of these paints is that they are too expensive, they are too messy hence you will require turpentine to clean them up but not water; and they require more materials when using them. Oils are the thickest paint colors.

Acrylics: these paints are thicker than watercolors and therefore they are easy to use and recommended for beginners. Their thickness makes them easy to use as they can blend with other colors. But care must be taken when using these types of paints because they can be messy to clean up if used inappropriately used.

The above mentioned paints are the major types of paints that are widely used in painting industry. Other commonly used paints include: gouache, tempera, casein, encaustic, etc. Therefore, it is upon you to identify your level of painting, the type of final work you need and the budget you have before selecting the type of paint to use.
